Water-Resources Engineering by David A. Chin,

Water-Resources Engineering by David A. Chin,
FEATURES/BENEFITS Contains practical design applications--From the areas of hydraulics, surface water engineering hydrology and ground water hydrology, engineering hydrology and hydrologic fate engineering hydrology and transport processes. Coverage of design applications reinforces the basic theory. Design methods are state-of-the-art in preparation for engineering practice. Detailed coverage of hydraulics, hydrology, engineering hydrology and contaminant transport in a single book, provide a holistic view of water-resources engineering. Presents computer models--Widely used in practice to implement the techniques discussed. It is essential that today's engineers be familiar with state-of-the-art computer models for efficient engineering hydrology and comprehensive engineering design. Presents design protocols--Consistent with ASCE, WEF, engineering hydrology and AWWA Manuals of Practice. Most modern designs are guided by codes engineering hydrology and design standards. Familiarity with these rules is essential. Uses SI units throughout. To be competitive in a global environment the use of SI units is essential. The United States is moving inexorably towards the universal adoption of SI units.

Hydrological Applications of GIS: Advances in Hydrological Processes by A. M. Gurnell,

Hydrological Applications of GIS: Advances in Hydrological Processes by A. M. Gurnell,
Over the last two decades the dramatic increase in the computer power available to the hydrologist has led to significant developments in the way that hydrological research engineering hydrology and operations are conducted. This collection of papers focuses on one area of such developments, the application of GIS to the solution of hydrological problems. The included papers consider or illustrate some of the key issues relevant to hydrological applications of GIS in the late 1990s. It provides papers which consider the technical engineering hydrology and ethical ramifications of data quality engineering hydrology and of increasing spatial resolution; issues associated with the development of multi-disiplinary, multi-use databases; engineering hydrology and problems associated with the derivation of hydrologically-useful information from high resolution digital elevation models. It provides examples of the use of distributed hydrological models within GIS applications engineering hydrology and it also includes hydrological applications of GIS at a range of spatial scales. These are based upon the integration of varied data sources, including historical engineering hydrology and contemporary maps, air photographs, satellite imagery engineering hydrology and point data from hydrological net works. This book is of particular interest to undergraduates engineering hydrology and postgraduate students in GIS, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences engineering hydrology and Environmental Engineering as well as researchers in Hydrology engineering hydrology and Hydrogeomorphology engineering hydrology and professionals in the public sector engineering hydrology and commerce.

Hydrology - Hydrology (from Greek: Yδρoλoγια, Yδωρ+Λoγos, Hydrologia, the "study of water") is the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water throughout the Earth, and thus addresses both the hydrologic cycle and water resources. A practitioner of hydrology is a hydrologist, working within the fields of either earth or environmental science, or civil and environmental engineering.

Drawdown (hydrology) - In water-related science and engineering there are two similar but distinct definitions in use for drawdown

Industrial engineering - Industrial engineering is the engineering discipline that concerns the design, development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, knowledge, equipment, energy, material and process. Industrial engineering draws upon the principles and methods of engineering analysis and synthesis, as well as mathematics, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.

Geological engineering - Geological engineering is the engineering science of applying engineering principals to geologic materials as part of the engineering design of facilties including roads, tunnels, and mines especially as related to minerals and mineral products. Some see it as a merging of the disciplines of geology and engineering and materials science, but, while it includes aspects of all, it has several specializations unique to the field.
